Salt Health and Beauty Tips Revealed

Aside from being an essential seasoning, salt has many uses outside of the kitchen. In a previous post, we revealed a series of handy salt tricks around the house, but this week we’re taking salt outside of the kitchen and into the bathroom instead.

You might be surprised to learn, but salt can be used as an addition to your beauty regime. It’s inexpensive and readily available, making a container of salt an essential item to have in your bathroom cupboard.

Salt has many powerful anti-bacterial properties and has long been thought to draw out impurities. In the past, pain and swelling was relieved with packs made with heated salt, whilst hot compresses containing salt helped to reduce infection and inflammation.

From cleaning teeth, to exfoliating skin, reducing eye puffiness and relieving itchy skin, salt beauty tips and tricks will leave you looking your best, without having to spend a fortune. Here are some simple health and beauty tips that call for a sprinkling of salt.

Clean Teeth

A combination of baking soda, water and salt can be used when brushing your teeth. The gentle abrasive action of the salt will leave teeth feeling squeaky-clean and its anti-bacterial properties will leave gums and teeth fresh and healthy. Baking soda also helps to whiten teeth, so you’ll be left with brighter teeth too!

Exfoliate Skin

Leave skin feeling silky soft and renewed with an exfoliating salt treatment. Simply, sprinkle onto your hands and rub it gently all over wet skin after taking a shower or bath. It will remove dry skin, leaving it smoother to the touch.

Relieve Itchy Skin

Help to relieve itchy skin by soaking in a tub of salt water. Just add 1 cup of table salt or sea salt to your bath water to soften skin and leave you feeling relaxed.

Reduce Eye Puffiness

Salt does wonders for reducing eye puffiness. Banish puffy eyes by mixing ½ teaspoon of salt into one quarter of warm water. Then dip cotton wool pads into the solution, before lying down and applying to the eyelids. Wait 10 minutes and you’ll arise with deflated eyes.

So, as well as having many uses around the house, salt can also be used as part of your beauty regime. Its uses really are endless!

As with any health and beauty tips, please bear in mind that people can react differently with all natural ingredients and cosmetics, so please exercise caution when using such hints.
